HAMPCO, INC. SUCCESSFULLY HOSTED FREE SUMMER YOUTH ART CLASSES

Hampco, Inc. held free Summer Youth Art Classes throughout June 2024. Designed for students ages 10-16, these classes aimed to foster a deeper appreciation for art, enhance creative skills, and enrich participants’ understanding of artistic processes.

Over the course of the month, youth from across Monroe engaged in a series of dynamic and educational art activities. The classes were taught by renowned artist Frank Kelley, Jr. The program provided valuable opportunities for participants to:

*Learn about the positive benefits of art.
* Develop skills and understanding of basic art processes.
* Expand their thought processes, opinions, and interpretations through art.

The program culminated with an enriching field trip, where students visited the Northeast Louisiana African American Heritage Museum, the Masur Museum of Art, and Frank Kelley, Jr. Art Gallery/Studio. These visits offered an invaluable chance for students to experience art in various forms and historical contexts, deepening their appreciation and understanding of the art world.

Hampco, Inc. appreciates all the students who participated and contributed to the success of this program. Special thanks also to the museums and galleries for their collaboration and support.

This art program was provided through the efforts of Senator Katrina Jackson-Andrews,
District 34.
